BAOFENG DM-1701 Dual-Band DMR Digital and Analog Handheld Radio

The BAOFENG DM-1701 combines DMR digital and analog FM operation with a full-color display, direct keypad controls and organized channel storage. Its black handheld design includes a removable antenna, rotary controls and programmable function keys.

Digital and Analog Flexibility

Configure individual channels for DMR digital or analog FM operation. Factory firmware supports private calls, group calls and all calls in digital mode, as well as compatible digital repeater operation.

Communication requires compatible frequencies, modes and channel settings. Digital communication also depends on settings such as color code, timeslot and talkgroup.

OpenGD77 Compatibility

The DM-1701 supports installation of OpenGD77 alternative firmware. This offers an alternative interface and operation designed for amateur radio use.

OpenGD77 compatibility does not mean the radio is supplied with OpenGD77 pre-installed. Alternative firmware replaces the factory firmware, and its supported functions, interface and channel operation may differ.

Use compatible OpenGD77 CPS and follow the project’s model-specific instructions when installing or configuring alternative firmware.

Organized Channel Management

With factory firmware, the DM-1701 supports up to 3,000 channels across 250 zones, with up to 64 channels in each zone. Organize channels by activity, group or communication setup for easier selection.

Clear Display and Convenient Controls

The full-color LCD displays channel and operating information. The numeric keypad supports direct frequency entry, while the programmable function keys provide access to configured shortcuts.

Selectable Output Power

Select 5W high output or 1W low output to suit your operating setup. Communication performance depends on terrain, obstructions, antenna setup, interference and other conditions.

Scan and Voice Activation

Channel scanning helps you check programmed channels. VOX enables voice-activated transmission when configured appropriately. Function availability and operation depend on the installed firmware.
